51st LQP Workshop and Rainer-Fest

International workshop on foundations and constructive aspects of QFT
Conference in honour of Rainer Verch's 60th birthday
ITP, Universität Leipzig, Germany · 17th – 19th September 2025 · lqp51@itp.uni-leipzig.de
We welcome you to the 51st edition of the Local Quantum Physics workshop series, which is an international conference concerning mathematical aspects of quantum field theory (QFT). Quantum field theories on both Minkowski spacetime and on curved spacetimes are within the scope of the workshop, and there is particular emphasis on the algebraic approach to QFT. We also expect talks from neighbouring fields, such as Euclidean QFT, quantum statistical mechanics, stochastic differential equations, non-commutative geometry, quantum gravity, quantum information theory and related topics.
We invite scientists working on fundamental aspects of quantum field theory to give presentations of their work (axiomatic, mathematical, constructive). Priority will be given to junior scientists.
In honour of Rainer Verch and on the occasion of his 60th birthday, we also welcome you to the Rainer-Fest, a day dedicated to his life and work with presentations by his advisors, students and colleagues.
The organizers: Daniela Cadamuro, Markus B. Fröb, Albert Much, with assistance from Carmine A. Ferrentino and Philipp Dorau. We acknowledge support from the DFG Graduiertenkolleg «Strong criticality in Quantum and Gravitational Systems» RTG 2522, the DFG Emmy Noether research group «The quantum stress-energy tensor» CA 1850/1-1 and the University of Leipzig.

Directions

The conference will take place at the Seminargebäude in Universitätsstraße, which is part of the central university building. For the social dinner on Thursday we will go to Brauhaus Napoleon at the crossing of Prager Straße and Russenstraße. The Seminargebäude is within walking distance from any hotel in or close to the city center, and the Brauhaus Napoleon is next to the tram stop Prager/Russenstraße of line 15 (and sometimes line 2).

Seminargebäude, Universitätsstraße 1

We are in room S 420 on the 4th floor. To reach it, take any elevator or stairs and follow the signs.

Beer garden Brauhaus Napoleon, Prager Straße 233

The beer garden Brauhaus Napoleon for the social dinner on Thursday is at the crossing of Prager Straße and Russenstraße. Take the tram line 15 from the city centre (stop Augustusplatz) direction Meusdorf (or line 2 if it goes until Meusdorf) and get off at the stop Prager/Russenstraße (yellow line on the map). Cross the street and have a seat outside.

Accomodation

We suggest to use any of the popular hotel booking websites to look for accomodation, and to book early. Some hotels also offer better prices when one books with them directly. Hotels which are reasonably close to the conference venue include:

Early reservation advised

Due to events happening in Leipzig all throughout the year, many hotels in the city center of Leipzig can be fully booked early on, or only have rooms at elevanted prices. Please look for hotels as soon as possible, and also consider locations further away from the city center, but still well-connected by tram or S-Bahn.

Beware of fraudulent e-mails

Some participants have advised us that they recieved fradulent e-mails offering to book travel and/or accomodation. These e-mails are not legitimate and do not come from us. Any communication regarding the conference will come from lqp51@itp.uni-leipzig.de, or directly from one of the organizers. In case of doubts, do not hesitate to write to us!
