The Wick monomials in a conformally generally covariant quantum field theory

Abstract:

The construction of generally covariant theories, given recently by Brunetti Fredenhagen and Verch, furnishes a new interpretation of the quantization of fields on curved spacetime. The coherent comparison of fields on different spacetime has been made possible in particular. During this talk we shall generalize those concepts in order to encompass the theories that show conformal covariance. As an example, the massless conformally coupled Klein Gordon field will be quantized by means of a functor between two certain categories. In four dimensions, despite the presence of anomalies, the Wick monomials can be interpreted as locally covariant fields when the renormalization constants are chosen in an appropriate way. Finally we shall comment on the interpretation of the resulting anomalies when more involved fields are considered.
